So what about all these millions the MPAA claims being losing, despite the fact that most studio income is up? Well, they raid a server with pirated movies and shut it down. They count 2,400 downloads and multiply that times $29.95, the price with the DVD, and go on the news shouting "We just lost $72,000!" Sorry guys, your math is wrong. They assume all 2400 those who downloaded the movie would've bought the DVD. Most people that download movies are simply curious, and tend to download over they can watch. They may have even profited from those 2400 downloads, like a buzz might spread when the movie is a useful one.

I'd like to see the MPAA stop whining and start giving. Help share among those profits with charity. Or maybe lower your exorbitant ticket prices and DVD prices. How about shaving a number of that million dollar salary in the MPAA president? Or maybe simply make better movies?
I don't even think piracy occasion to hurt the movie industry, but I do think the trend toward remakes and bad quality movies will affect the industry. Eventually, people might be more considering the old classic movies rather than the mediocre formulas that are filling the screens currently. The major Hollywood studios will forfeit more to competition from foreign films and independent films that they'll from piracy.
