Top Rated Movies On Netflix Streaming! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is just two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered which you list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving requires a different twist. Neither is likely to be specific to Thanksgiving, but they relate to some themes with the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving and for any day with the year.

Big oil company propaganda which has a heart! Just the free movie we'd like for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one of the most lyrical American films ever made. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of an Cajun boy and his awesome family, living for the bayous in such a way of life that people can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land towards the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything exactly like it was, clean and unspoiled apart from the family includes a little more money. (Yes, it turned out funded through the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends most of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating across the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, along with his pet raccoon. He never wears an existence preserver or shoes... doesn't even have a cell phone to speak to case he gets in trouble. There is not much story, just a celebration (in such stunning white and black photography that you might well wonder what are the big deal is all about color) of an way of life that is certainly no longer along with us.
All in the actors were amateurs, and then for most, this became their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who totally boy, was surviving in a FEMA trailer regarding his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their house. (source). He had a possibility at fame within the movies, but which he stayed where he was from and apparently grew up with an appreciation of family (a wedding of over 50 years) reflects why I consider The Louisiana Story an appropriate free movie for just one of our most family-friendly holidays.

A white and black silent film that ends having a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, just what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc on this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever produced. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died thinking that the last copy had been destroyed. In a little weirdness that sounds similar to a movie compared to the truth, a practically complete print was found in 1981 in a janitor's closet of the Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that people can watch this magnificent film, on many lists with the greatest films of all time, totally free online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered a psychological breakdown in the making with this film, and she or he never made another film. Pauline Kael (more), a notoriously demanding film critic, said that Falconetti's performance "may function as finest performance ever recorded on film."
